About Andrea
Art, Love and the Ocean
What gives life to an artist’s brush?
Andrea England, sailor, adventurer, teacher and artist explored life and art on the Indian and Pacific Oceans, and lately, specifically, here on the Salish Sea. She put life into every painting, letting the colours flow from her brush, in their water, onto her paper, as the waves, not always gently, rocked Sailing Vessel Island Prism, Andrea’s floating studio. I was lucky to be her fellow sailor, adventurer and husband. We got married on this old boat in Auckland Harbour, New Zealand.
Alas, Andrea is gone now, caught by Cancer. She left behind the Andrea England Art Studio which she had carefully built from scratch into a vibrant Studio with many successful divisions. There are the very informative art courses, including the big free book on getting started in watercolours. It’s never too late or too early to put your life on an artist’s brush. Andrea also has a successful course on travel sketching. I have over 2 meters of Andrea's sketch books on the shelf with so many lovely personal memories of our time together. The art courses are still available and will always be available.
An Artist Afloat
Andrea also carefully set up her print shop. She selected Canvas Plus in Ladysmith and Metropol in Victoria to print her cards, pop prints and Giclee prints. Their quality and service have been most excellent. Watch this website, Andrea England Art, because we will be offering a selection of Andrea’s paintings that belong to family members as Giclee prints.
Andrea also worked hard with Makers on Government Street in Downtown Victoria. Nancy and her staff keep her section well stocked with Andrea's cards, economical pop prints and archival quality varnished wood mounted Giclee prints. And you should see the other artists in Makers, most excellent indeed.
The Print Shop
Andrea has left us so much, she has painted so much beauty of the sea around us. I hope you agree with me that Andrea's beauty is worth sharing.
